Become a Fair Ambassador

All candidates for the Chelan County Fair Ambassador program must be current high school juniors living in and attending school in Chelan County.  Two Ambassadors will be selected to represent the Chelan County Fair. These Ambassadors will be responsible for representing the Chelan County Fair at speaking engagements before and during the Fair and participating in several festival parades.  They will also participate in duties during the annual Fair event.   Each Ambassador will be awarded a scholarship to the college of their choice in the amount of $1,000.00 .

Official Rules, Qualifications and Obligations

  1. Applications for Chelan County Fair Ambassadors shall be distributed, under the direction of the Ambassador Committee, to all high schools in Chelan County and to the County Extension Office during the month of December each year.  Applications are also available at the Chelan County Fair Office.
  2. The top two qualified applicants will be selected to represent the Chelan County Fair as the Ambassadors.
  3. A selection committee will select the top four candidates and those candidates will be interviewed by the selection committee.  The Ambassadors selected will be announced by March 1, 2021.
  4. Applicants must live within the boundaries of a Chelan County School District, and be schooled in Chelan County.  Applicants must have a minimum accumulative GPA of 2.5.  Applicants must be in their Junior year of high school.  Applicants must be single, have never married, nor are planning to marry before October of the current year.
  5. All appearances of the Chelan County Fair Ambassadors shall be confined to Chelan, Douglas County plus the East Wenatchee area.  Any appearance outside of this designated area must have prior approval of the Chelan County Fair Board.
  6. Clothing for appearances will be provided by the Chelan County Fair Board.
  7. The Directors of the Chelan County Fair Board or appointees shall serve as the chaperones for the Ambassadors at their appearances.  The Ambassador Committee will be responsible for coordinating appearances and chaperones for the appearances.
  8. A minimum of fifteen (15) appearances or 80% of all scheduled activities, unless excused by the Ambassador Committee, will be required in order to receive the $1,000.00 scholarship (See rule 11 for details).  Each Ambassador is expected to attend and be prompt at all functions arranged by the Ambassador Committee for their participation.  Ambassadors are required to inform the Committee ahead of time if they are unable to attend any function. 
  9. Ambassadors will be required to participate in fund-raising activities to maintain the Ambassador Expense Fund at a desirable working level.  State Fair Commission rules prohibit use of Fair Funds for Ambassador expenses.
  10. Ambassadors shall be ex-officio Board Members during their term and are required to attend the monthly Chelan County Fair Board meetings during their term to report on activities and appearances.
  11. Scholarships in the amount of $1,000.00 will be awarded to each Ambassador. A certificate of scholarship will be presented to the Ambassadors at the October Fair Board meeting.  One-half of the scholarship ($500.00) will be awarded to the recipient with proof of acceptance and enrollment to a school of higher education.  After successful completion of the first year of higher education with a GPA of 2.5 or higher, or a completion certificate and proof of continued enrollment the balance ($500.00) will be awarded to the recipient.  Scholarships must be used within five years after graduation from high school or they will be forfeited.
  12. Ambassadors will be expected to distribute and restock Exhibitor Guides and hang promotional posters.
  13. Ambassadors will help with various activities at fair as asked by the Ambassador Committee.
